first of all, i have to say GONG XI FA CAI! it my favourite time of the year after Hari Raya and Xmas (khekhekhee) because it is the only time you can find slurries of goodies and sweets and asam asins and crackers and whanots. and if you want to update your wardrobe with something red, this is your chance. and of course, nothing can beat the 3-day public holiday (weekends not included). for once, i'm thankful for our CNY-celebrating govt.
speaking of holidays, i spent the days at the family's moderately modest and extravagantly brown JB 'chateu'. every corner is brown! but wood furniture is still IS ultimately classy after all. it's not quite a home yet though because everything still smells of the furniture shop. i cant call it a home until my masam peluh smell has sunk in. hehe.
i truly hate my room though i have to say. so stark, new, bland and untouched and sterilized. i feel like a mouse under scrutiny bleargh. plus all 4 walls are pink. double bleargh. BUT! i have a great 180 degrees view of the North-South highway. heh. speaking of views, apparently malaysia is very generous with their fireworks laws; so on the night of CNY my family were treated with a paranomic full course meal of colourful firework display for 2 full hours! we had the privilege VIP seats right from the comfort of our living room.
anyway, had loads of unexpected fun at JB. shopped till my RMs dropped at JUSCO and ate too much at Danga Bay and Singgah Selalu. JB has some MEAN satays, pisang gorengs and ikan bakar i tell ya! it is THE foodie heaven. there is no truth in the statement: "singapore is the food paradise". it is just a catch phrase for the tourism board. STB were pretty desperate you see.
My sis and I did some batik painting for just RM1. here is our proud masterpiece!!

and my parents and i after a shopping spree from a wood craft shop.
no, my dad doesnt carry a tongkat. he just bought it for 'preventive measures'. his plan was to leave it in a car and use it in an unfortunate case where someone tries to attack him or the car. (pretty common these days) but the thing is, my beloved audience, the tongkat is so long and heavy that my mum and I had to postulate that, by the time my dad manages to get the tongkat in its defensive position, the attacker would have already longed fled.
so yep, dat was how CNY came and went. beginning to actually like JB. poor sweets was alone in spore land. hmm.
next time k sayang.
